Same ol' Hamburgers at your Pit? Grab Grabsome fresh salsa & a bag of Nacho Chips to kick it up with this Burger recipe - the kids are goin' to luv 'em!
THE INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED:
FOR PATTY
• Ground Beef Chuck – 4 lb
• Hot sauce - To Taste
• SPG seasoning – (salt, Garlic, and Pepper mixed together) To Taste
• Nacho Chips – 1 Bag Crushed
• Pepper Jack Cheese – shredded
FOR THE SALSA
• Cilantro – 1 cup
• Lime – 1
• Roma tomatoes – 2 cups diced, about 7 tomatoes
• Serrano Chilies – 10 To Taste
• Jalapeno – 1
• Onion – 1 cup diced
• Garlic – 4 or 5 cloves
• Salt – To Taste
FOR SERVING
• Hamburger Buns
DIRECTIONS
MAKING
THE SALSA
1. Chop the Cilantro, Tomatoes, serrano chilies, jalapeno, onion and garlic into a small dice
2. Mix all of the veggies together in a bowl
3. Add the juice of 1 Lime to the salsa and mix
4. Salt the salsa to taste
GETTING READY
5. Season Ground Chuck with the SPG – To Taste
6. Form firm compact patties in any size desired, we are making ¾ lb burgers
7. Mix Hot Sauce into each individual burger while forming burger – Optional To Taste
8. Crush the bag of nacho chips and set aside
9. Set up your grill for indirect heat (hot coals on one side of the grill and no coals on the other side of the grill) – You’re looking for medium hot coals
COOKING
10. Place the burgers on the grill directly over the hot coals
11. Sear the burgers on the first side – about 2 minutes
12. After 1 side is seared flip the burgers
13. Pile Shredded Pepper Jack Cheese onto the burgers – or your favorite cheese
14. After the second side is seared move the burgers to the side of the grill with no coals to finish cooking
15. Cook burgers to your desired doneness
FINALIZING
16. Place the crushed Nacho chips in a shallow dish
17. Take the burgers directly from the grill and put them in the nacho chips cheese side down
18. Coat the burger on both sides with the nacho chips
19. Place the burger on a bun
20. Top burger with a large scoop of the fresh made salsa
